how to save /home during reinstall

Thu, 27 Dec 2012 07:28:24 -0800 Post Comments

Once I had a problem with disklabel wanting to write a slightly modified
version. Make sure you write down all of the exact disklabel numbers
beforehand. Or you could lose /home partition. This is easy to fix
beforehand.

How often do these disklabel problems come up?
I only saw that once, quite a while back.
Other than that time, never a problem.

Everything I use/write is strictly mod_perl (mod_perl-1.31 under
OpenBSD).

I am planning on releasing some of this open-source, but many users will
not be running mod_perl.

What might be the easiest way to go backwards to CGI without a huge
amount of work?
Should I write something that makes $r->print(); work as print?
I have read that CGI.pm and Apache::Request are similar but not the
same.
Is something already written to do this out there? A guide?

These applications use:
use Apache::Request();
use DBI();

All of these modules are using Apache::Registry, not handler.

Thanks,

I did an update to my remote server using the ssh method, since I did
not have Java built
But it failed to reboot
From an IP KVM on someone elses computer with Java.
Boots into ddb right after boot>
(with message below)

However, after I type boot -s to get into single user mode, I get ddb
with a message similar to:

kernal protection fault trap
Stopped at calibrate_cyclecounter, etc

If I type boot> boot bsd.rd,
the server immediately shuts down and reboots
I am building Java right now.

Does this sound like a hardware failure or bad upgrade??
I am going to try upgrade with IP KVM after Java finishes building
Java built but I cannot get firefox35 to work.
I am on latest snapshot for i386
