Corrupted security update package files

Sat, 03 Dec 2011 18:11:01 -0800 Post Comments

I noticed it as well. I commented out the entry:

deb  http://security.debian.org/  lenny/updates main contrib

in my "/etc/apt/sources.list" file, in the meantime.
As this is not a production machine, I'll wait a day or so and try
again.

The fix is possibly easy enough if you knew which entry had the corrupt
package header.

This question is best asked on the debian-mentors*******
mailing list. That list, despite the name, is for discussing issues
about packaging.

Are you running stable testing or unstable?

You could probably check the dpkg logs under /var/log/dpkg*

If you are running stable, then a serious problem has occurred, and you
won't be the only one affected by it. Although, that is no consolation,
all reasonable efforts will be taken to fix it. Watch this space.

But, if you are running testing/unstable then thanks for helping to test
for bugs.

Can you get to a the text console, and as root type: "apt-get -f install"
(without the quotes) and paste the output here?

P.S. If you don't want any surprises -- run stable.
