Google Public DNS Problems?

Wed, 01 May 2013 11:17:12 -0700 Post Comments

Does Google (and OpenDNS for that matter) support any "special" queries
that identify the host/cluster/etc.?  Something like BIND's CHAOS
HOSTNAME.BIND (which also works for Unbound and some other servers), or
UltraDNS's WHOAREYOU.ULTRADNS.NET.

I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.
I believe Bing is Akamaized (it is for me anyway), so whether you see
Bing on IPv6 is based on whether the Akamai cluster you are pointed to
has IPv6 (it does for me).

IPv6 and HTTPS

I have no numbers, but my gut feeling is that there are a lot more
eyeballs than web servers with lots of IPs.

SNI; RFC 3546

The RFC is just shy of 10 years old, so that's like a baby compared to
IPv6.

It is mostly deployed, but there's still a fair number of old clients
that don't support it.  WinXP+IE is probably the biggest fail, followed
by Android < 3.0 and BlackBerry.
