SOT: Linux install on a P-II, need text games

I would like to know if which Linux ISOs have the text games (bsd and
other ones) on them?

I need to install it on P-II machines (32 MB).

I need this machines to use it for coding but need to have text games.

Please advise other distros too which have the text games on the ISO.

The P-IIs don't have network cards so I need to install using CDs.

Thanks and Regards,

Deboo

I don't think any of the install media contain the console games,
however the dependencies for the package bsd-games are satisfied by
almost all the installation media. So what you can do is grab the rpm
from here,

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/releases/[..]

and install using `rpm -ivh /path/to/the/rpm'

Have fun

The games spin does. It doesn't have bsd-games, but does have rogue,
bombardier, nethack, ularn, and gnugo.

With only 32 MB the OP isn't going to be able to run any recent Fedora.

He'd be better off checking a distribution something targetting low memory
systems. If he finds a distro that will install, but doesn't have text
games, then grabbing the source of the games from Fedora's source rpms
might be useful.

I thought he was talking about RAM. AFAIR we already had disks of the
order of a few gigs in P-II days. The following blog post might be of
interest to the OP if disk space is the problem.

I did too. You can't install Fedora on a machine with 32 MB of ram using
the normal process. (I don't know of any process that will do this for
current Fedora's, though the rule project did have a way to do it for some
old Fedora versions.)

The minimum for F11 is 128 MB for text mode. I don't know if you can get
by with less if you get by installation.

Well actually, some machines have 32 MB, others vary from 64 to 256 MB.

I have a copy of FC2 CDs lying around, would that install with that much RAM?

What other distros would you suggest for the games as well as for this
amount of RAM?

Hard disk is not an issue but I do have some machines without a hard
disk. I'd like to use Linux on them too, tho knoppix etc won't be
possible to use on these. Some thin Linux distro?

Deboo

I wouldn't recommend using such an old distro.

Personally, I'd use Debian. The minimal install is very light and apt is
fast also on low-end hardware (yum is slowly getting there, but is still
way back). AFAIK there's a CD install available of the whole package
collection, too.

Can you tell if the Debian ISOs have the bsd and console games on them
since I can not do a netinstall on the P-IIs?

How many CDs would I need to download? There's a huge number of CDs
for Debian. I don't want to download a DVD just for a thin install.

I need to also do coding so the compilers etc also needed.
