Yes we can. But I think that somewhere read that you shouldn't send
testing of email addresses to this list.

Mika as you have appointed yourself as a list policeman, please explain
how I am to test on whether or not I am now able to see my first
posting without send a post ?????

If you check in the archives you will find I raised the problem a while
ago , wanting to know if it was the way debian lists are managed , and
from that found my ISP was using gmail and blocking mail addressed back
to the sender as a list posting does.

You have increased the bandwidth used with your huge sig block as well
as the answer for me.

OR WERE YOU JUST TROLLING ?

Dear Richard,

"Do not send "test" messages to determine whether your mail client is
working"

I don't know. You could ask return receipts, like I do. http://www.debian.org/MailingLists/#codeofconduct  .

Ok.

If I didn't sign emails which I send, there is no easy way to verify
that I have sent them. Email spoofing can be done with some clicks.

I am sorry, if you think that I am trolling. I don't mean to troll anyone.

Easy, you look up a thread you can contribute and post to it :)

Hmm, we probably need a "return receipts" day, where everybody sends
return receipts to everybody who asks them :)
This way people might understand what a useless waste of time, bandwidth
and storage space they are.

Just one example: Outlook has this dialog box where you have to click
"Ok" to send a read receipt, but even if you move it aside, you can't
scroll down to actually read the entire mail[1]. And if the mail looks
like you need to take the time to read it carefully there is no way to
postpone it, you have to click "No" to get rid of it and later you will
have to reply to it anyway

IMNSHO, if the message is important enough that you want/need a
confirmation "on file" you should specifically ask for acknowledgement,
preferably at the end of the e-mail, otherwise you have no way to tell
they actually read to the bottom.

[1] What most people do is just click it away (or even worse, check the
"Always send read receipts" box), which doesn't actually tell if the
receiver really took the time to read that e-mail beyond the first few
lines.

Kind regards,
Andrei

NO that will not work, it is only the first posting that gets blocked.

Post something of value, like the real question you want to ask. There are
thousands of us out here and we all get to see your test posting. (I'll
not respond on-list further.)

You could always say something trivial and harmless, without
mentioning "test" (which makes some people freak out for some
reason). In fact, I was looking for just such an opportunity
myself when I encountered your message, so thanks! :D

Post a relevant reply to an existing thread.  Test messages are banned

Try reading previous replies, replying to a existing thread would not
THIS LIST SEEMS TO HAVE A HIGH POPULATION OF SELF APPOINTED PREMADONNAS
THAT ARE ONLY CAPABLE OF CRITICISM.
If you look on thread history, there are only about 20 that regularly
offer help and advice.
There are many more that will jump on any excuse to demonstrate their
egotistical  self importance, did I mean to put an "r" in that.
Or are they just control freaks ?

I think that people usually read their emails in time order, so it's
possible that some replies are left unseen until emails before it are
read and replied.
